Suspect in death of UST law student detained at MPD

The suspect in the case of alleged hazing victim Horacio Castillo III is under the custody of Manila Police District (MPD) on Saturday.

John Paul Solano, who surrendered to Senator Panfilo Lacson on Friday, is detained at the homicide section, the spokesman of the MPD said in an interview with the Daily Manila Shimbun.

Margarejo said Solano is considered a suspect in the case.

“ (Solano as suspect is ) confirmed until such time he will be presented in court and the court will decide about his case”, Superintendent Erwin Margarejo said in a Viber message to the Daily Manila Shimbun.

He said the police are coordinating with Bureau of Immigration and International Police (Interpol) to arrest the other suspect on the case Ralph Trangia who reportedly was able to fled to Taiwan.

Margarejo said charges will still be filed against Trangia.

Solano bought Castillo to the Chinese General Hospital on September 17 where the later was declared dead on arrival.

Solano said on Friday he was not part of those who killed Castillo. He said his only involvement in the case was when he gave medical assistance to Castillo. Alanna Ambi/DMS
