Suspect in killing of Manila City Hall employee surrenders

The suspect behind the killing of a Manila City Hall employee "voluntarily surrendered" to authorities on Monday.

The suspect identified by the authorities as Eric Capulong turned himself in to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Manila Police District Special Mayor's Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) led by Police Major Rosalino Ibay.

According to a police report, Capulong submitted himself during the police operation around 11:20 pm in a subdivision at Bacoor, Cavite.

Police revealed that prior to the arrest, Capulong argued with the victim identified as Concepcion Beldad as the latter tried to break up with him.

Capulong attacked Beldad using a hammer. Authorities said Beldad was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/ DMS
