Suspect killed in encounter with police in Batangas

An armed suspect was killed in an encounter in the province of Batangas on Monday night.

Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, Calabarzon regional police director, said Tuesday based on initial report authorities were verifying the presence of an armed suspect when the clash happened in the vicinity of Brgy. Sto. Nino, Ibaan town around 9:10 pm.

He said the suspect fired his cal. 45 pistol against the approaching policemen that resulted in a fire fight that killed the suspect.

Eleazar said the suspect was  brought to Queen Mary Hospital Inc. in Ibaan but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

He said authorities are trying to find out the identity of the suspect.

Eleazar said authorities are conducting checkpoint operations in the area. Robina Asido/DMS
