Suspect of GenSan blast, alleged militant member killed

An alleged member of militant group Ansar-al Khalifa and a suspect of the 2018 General Santos City bombing were killed in a shootout with law enforcers serving an arrest warrant in Polomolok, South Cotabato last July 19.
The regional police office said police and military operatives served a warrant of arrest against Ben Usman a.k.a Tons Usman in his house at Purok 2, Barangay Lapu in Polomolok around 2:45 am.
Usman shot at the arresting team which ensued to a shoot-out. He was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by a doctor.
Recovered from the crime scene were fired cartridge cases, fragmentation grenade, ISIS banner and a t-shirt with ISIS logo.
Investigation revealed that Usman was one of the suspects involved in 2018 GenSan City bombing.
His brother, Basit Usman, is an improvised explosive device and is said to be linked with Ansar -al Khilafah Phil (AKP) and Dawlah IsIamiya-Maguid. Ella Dionisio/DMS
