Suspected drug pusher killed, 8 arrested in Cebu

A suspected drug pusher was killed and eight were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Cebu City on Saturday evening. Alben Comendador, 59, was killed in his house in 32 St. Happy Valley, Brgy. Guadalupe at 6:40 pm., SPO1 Calexto Perez said in a phone interview with The Daily Manila Shimbun. Perez, a personnel of Cebu's Police Station 9, said when the police officer. who pretended to be a buyer of shabu, told Comendador he is a cop, the suspect took out his gun, but he could not fire as it appeared to be jammed. Comendador was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, he said. At least 15 grams of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the suspects, Perez said. He said Comendador was under police surveillance for three weeks for being a suspected pusher and user of prohibited drugs. The eight persons arrested were caught in the act of preparing the drug paraphernalia, he said. (Alanna Ambi/DMS)
