Task force says travel authority will remain requirement for people not authorized to travel
August 26, 2020
The Joint Task Force COVID Shield on Tuesday reminded the public that a travel authority has been and will remain a requirement for people who are not authorized to travel during this time of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a statement last Tuesday night, JTF said those who are not included in the list of the Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) and planning to cross the border of Metro Manila, of a province and of a Highly-Urbanized City (HUC) even if most parts of the country is under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) still need to secure a Travel Pass from the local authorities.
They made the clarification after a picture, with Police Lt. General Guillermo Eleazar in it, circulated online saying the National Task Force on COVD-19 has lifted restrictions for all travels in any part of the country.
“The current disinformation on social media, referring to a “social card”, did not come from the JTF COVID Shield and was already circulated a few months ago,” it said.
“But it is now being used again to make it appear that it is a new declaration from the JTF COVID Shield purposely to confuse the public and eventually discredit the efforts being made by the national government to contain the spread of the coronavirus,” it added.
JTF said the post is an apparent attempt to mislead the public on the travel restrictions in country. Ella Dionisio/DMS
