Thousands stranded in ports due to ”Ulysses”

Thousands of people were stranded in different ports affected by Typhoon ''Ulysses'', the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported Wednesday.
According to PCG, a total of 1,500 passengers, drivers, and cargo helpers were in ports in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Southern Tagalog, and NCR.
A total of 32 vessels; 111 motorbancas; and 540 rolling cargoes were also stranded within the same regions.
"76 vessels and 23 motorbancas are taking shelter as a precautionary measure against the possible threat of the tropical cyclone," said PCG.
Coast Guard deployable response groups (DRGs), specifically in areas that will be affected by Typhoon 'Ulysses' based on the latest forecast of PAGASA such as Bicol, Metro Manila, Mindoro, Quezon Province, Rizal, Bulacan, Bataan, Zambales, and Cagayan Valley are all set for possible evacuation and rescue operations in coordination with their respective local government units, PCG said.
As of 2pm, the Office of Civil Defense in Region V said a total of 3,525 families or 12,812 persons displaced because of the typhoon. Robina Asido/DMS
