Three escaped inmates killed in Masbate

Three inmates who escaped a jail in Milagros, Masbate died in a manhunt operation Thursday morning.

Bicol police said personnel of Masbate sub provincial jail are conducting a manhunt operation around 8am at Barangay Bonbon in Milagros  for four inmates who escaped last June 9.

“While they are conducting manhunt operations, the four escapees fired upon the operating team prompting them to retaliate,” Police Major Ma. Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson said.

Three inmates died but the other evaded arrest.

Calubaquib said the fatalities are facing charges for rape and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Authorities recovered a homemade shotgun with an inserted magazine loaded with three live ammunition and one fired cartridge.
