Three Russian warships will arrive in Manila Bay Sunday for a five-day good will visit, the Philippine Navy announced Saturday.
Commander Jonathan Zata, Navy spokesman, said Admiral Pantelev, an anti-submarine ship, along with guided missile cruiser Vargyag and large sea tanker Boris Botuma, will drop anchor at South Harbor .
“Welcome ceremony and port briefing will be conducted upon arrival of the Russian vessels after a customary meeting procedures with the designated PN vessel at the vicinity of Corregidor Island,” Zata.
The three warships will stay up to Jan. 11 for friendly navy-to-navy engagements, Zata said.
Last year, following two port calls by Russian warships in Manila, the Philippine Navy reciprocated Moscow’s good deeds by sending one of its two strategic sealift vessels, BRP Tarlac to Vladivostok, home of Russia’ Pacific Fleet in the Far East, for a six-day goodwill visit. DMS
