Around P 136 million worth of suspected illegal drugs were confiscated by the operatives of Philippine National Police- Drug Enforcement Group in a buy- bust operation in Pasig City last Wednesday.
Initial report said the operation was conducted around 7pm at Westbank Road in Maybunga, Pasig City which resulted to the arrest of three alleged drug suspects, including a certain Joel Narido who was a long time target of police surveillance.
According to Police Col. Wilson Lopez, Eastern Police District’s deputy for operation, they had a hard time arresting the suspects due to the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
“It so happened that GCQ (general community quarantine) was declared and the operatives had a chance to conduct a buy bust... Luckily, it resulted to their arrest,” Lopez said.
Confiscated were 20 plastics of suspected shabu packed inside a Chinese labelled tea with estimated weight of 20 kilos and estimated value of P 136 million.
Narido denied knowing that the items inside the tea packs were illegal drugs and said they were only ordered by someone through phone to do the transaction.
Lopez said an investigation is underway to determine who is the supplier and the extent of the network of the suspects.
The arrested suspects are under the custody of PDEG and will face charges for violating of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Ella Dionisio/DMS
