Tourism to open up to 50% in areas under MGCQ, says Palace
June 12, 2020
Resorts and other tourism establishments in areas under modified general community quarantine will be allowed to operate up to 50 percent capacity starting next week, Malacañang said on Friday.
In a television interview, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the opening of the tourism sector in the country will be gradual amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.
"All the MGCQ areas will open their tourism sector by 50 percent," he said.
Roque specifically cited Bohol and Baguio as among those areas which are expected to accept tourists.
He said majority of the clients would be Filipinos since the government has not allowed yet foreign tourists to enter the country.
On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte is set to decide the new quarantine classifications of the various places in the country.
Currently, Metro Manila, Cebu City, Davao City and a few other places are still under general community quarantine due to high cases of COVID-19.
