The president of the transport group Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP) on Saturday passed away at the age of 75.
FEJODAP president Zenaida "Zeny" Maranan died due to cardiac arrest around 5pm while she was confined in a hospital, according to a Facebook post of Maranan's relative.
“Mommy Zenaida De Castro passed away due to cardiac arrest. To those who are not familiar with her, she is the president of FEJODAP,” the post said.
According to FEJODAP North Sector, her family requests privacy in this time of grieving and will just announce the date for her public viewing.
“We would like to thank those who are expressing condolences and giving sympathy on the death of Madam Zenaida De Castro Maranan,” the group said.
Few days ago, Maranan appealed to the government to allow traditional jeepneys to operate as some of the jeepney drivers did not earn anything during the three-month enhanced community quarantine implemented in Metro Manila. Ella Dionisio/DMS
