Government troops have arrested two alleged members of the Special Partisan Unit (SPARU), the urban hit squad of the New People's Army and a suspected NPA recruiter in a law enforcement operation in North Cotabato last Tuesday.
1Lt. Silver Belvis, civil military operations officer of the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion, said arrested were suspected SPARU members Harold Adiaton alias Dodong and Ian Solis alias Iyan. Dandan Mailan Andas alias Ondong is the reported NPA recruiter.
He said the suspects were arrested in a law enforcement operation conducted by joint military and Police personnel at the vicinity of Brgy. Balite in Magpet, North Cotabato early morning of January 9.
Belvis said Adiaton was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant for a crime of frustrated murder while Solis was apprehended through a search warrant for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. Andas was captured for crimes of frustrated murder and robbery.
“Dandan is a known recruiter of the communist movement and a member of a kangaroo court (an irregular unauthorized court) of the underground mass base of the NPA as revealed by former surrenderees,” he said. Robina Asido/DMS
