Troops eradicate two marijuana plantations in Mountain Province

Government troops eradicated two marijuana plantations with a total area of 60 meters in Mountain Province on Sunday, a military official said on Thursday
Maj. Noriel Tabayan, public affairs chief of the 5th Infantry Division, said the 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion, Sagada Municipal Police Station, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority) CAR and other government agencies conducted a joint operation at the vicinity of Brgy. Fidelisan, Sagada.
"The operation was conducted with the help of the residents who reported the existence of the marijuana plantation in the area," he said.
"Government forces immediately responses and uprooted 230 plants of fully grown marijuana worth P92,000.00," he added.
Major Gen Pablo Lorenzo, commander of the 5th Infantry Division, lauded the people's cooperation with government forces.
"I hope that this will be a sign for us to further curb different illegal activities including the eradication of New People's Army (NPA) not only in Sagada but in the whole of Northern Luzon," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
