Two alleged NPA members killed in Davao City

Two alleged members of New People's Army (NPA) were killed in a clash with government troops in Davao City on Sunday, a military official said Monday.

1st Lt. Adrian Gautane, civil military operations officer of the  27th Infantry Battalio, said government forces were conducting pursuit operation after a clash Saturday when they encountered a group under Arian Jane Orheta Ramos alias Marikit of Guerrilla Front 55 at Sitio Lower Mapula, Brgy Mapula, Paquibato District  around 9:40 am on Sunday.

Gautane said after a 15-minute firefight, the armed men fled, leaving behind  two of their dead  comrades.

Government troops also recovered two M16 rifles, two magazines for M16 rifle, two handheld radios, two hammocks and a backpack containing personal belongings.

Gautane said the casualties were later identified by former comrades as Archie Sagan-a alias Bogard, the team leader, of Baking Squad  and a resident of Sitio Saluruyan, Barangay Sto. Domingo, San Fernando, Bukidnon and Ryan Ligkat alias Ryan, the squad leader, from Sitio Peroy, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte.

"After presenting the killed NPA terrorists to the barangay officials of Barangay Mapula headed by chairperson Flora Manyawron, the cadaver of the two NPA terrorists were brought by the responding government troops to Panabo City for appropriate funeral service," he said.
