Two alleged NPA members killed in Davao del Sur

Two alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed in a clash with government troops in Davao del Sur on Sunday afternoon.
Lt. Walter Jhun Orille, civil military operations officer of the 39th Infantry Battalion, said government troops encountered around 20 armed men at Sitio Garok, Brgy Sibulan, Sta Cruz, Davao del Sur around 3:30 pm.
Orille said the rebels were under Roberto Castillote, alias Inoy or Solomon, commander of Sentro de Grabidad, Pulang Bagani Command, Southern Regional Committee, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.
"Troops were fired upon by the (communist terrorist group) CTGs while responding to the information from concerned citizens that the terrorists are extorting (from) the populace," he said.
"No civilian was hurt or displaced during the incident which transpired in a very remote and forested part of the barangay," he added.
Orille said soldiers also recovered of two M16A rifles, two improvised explosive devices, and subversive documents in their abandoned hideouts.
