Two alleged NPA members killed in Isabela encounter

Two alleged members of New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with government troops in the province of Isabela on Monday morning.
1Lt. James Carl Teano, 86th Infantry Battalion Civil Military Operation (CMO) Officer said the government troops were conducting security patrol operation when they have encounter rebels at vicinity of Sitio Lumalog, Brgy Cadsalan, San Mariano, Isabela around 4:30 am.
“Based on the information reaching the headquarters of 86th IB, prior to the encounter… there were reported presence of armed men who conduct extortion activity in the area and in nearby barangay,” he said.
Teano said the firefight has resulted in the death of two armed men . Noo casualties were reported on the military's side.
He said the government forces recovered one shotgun and a Cal. 22 rifle after the clash.
Teano said the military are still trying to identity the two rebels through barangay officials and the Philippine National Police (PNP) of San Mariano, Isabela.
