Two alleged high-ranking women officials of the New People's Army (NPA) were nabbed in a law enforcement operation in Bukidnon on Saturday.
Maj. Jennan Montealto, civil military operations officer of the 403rd Brigade, said arrested were Lorna Songahid Micabalo, secretary and finance officer of the Sub-Regional Committee 4 (SRC4) of the Northern Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) and Jean Tacalan Montemayor alias Inka, secretary and finance officer of Guerilla Front 68B of SRC4, NCMRC.
Montealto said they were captured during a joint military and police operation at the vicinity of Purok 1, Brgy Kalasungay, Malaybalay, Bukidnon before midnight of Nov. 21.
"The arrest was prompted by virtue of warrants of arrest for kidnapping, serious illegal detention, murder, attempted murder, robbery, frustrated murder and illegal possession of explosives," he said.
"The serving of warrants was witnessed by barangay officials of the said place," he added.
Montealto said government troops seized one improvised explosive device; subversive documents; medical paraphernalia and personal belongings of the rebels.
Col. Ferdinand Barandon, commander of the 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade, lauded the troops for a job well done.
“This is the product of joint efforts between our law enforcement agency partners, the Philippine Army and the residents in the community who vigilantly reported the presence of these personalities," said Barandon. Robina Asido/DMS
