Two arrested for alleged online scams

Authorities arrested two persons involved in an alleged online scams in separate operation in Pasay and Taguig City on Tuesday.
Brigadier General Bernard Banac, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson, said an alleged online seller was arrested in Taguig City around 10:42 am for credit card fraud and an alleged freelance businessman sought by some complainants in the country and Singapore was arrested in Pasay City around 3pm for estafa.
Malvin Tianchon, 29, who had a warrant of arrest, was arrested at Villamor Air Base after he was tracked down by operatives of Pasay City police.
Tianchon is accused of criminal case with no bail for estafa in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. He was brought to the Pasay City Police Station for documentation
The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group arrested Kli Ban Agarrado, 22, in an entrapment operation at his residence in Taguig City for allegedly making online purchases using the credit card information of complainant, Cheyenne Edlagan.
According to the complainant, Agarrado obtained her information after she made transactions with the suspect to facilitate her payment for purchasing two units of Apple watches through a Viber group where the suspect is the chat administrator.
Agarrado was arrested as he received the items he purchased from a PNP-ACG agent who posed as delivery courier.
He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 8484 or Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998 as amended by Republic Act 11449, Article 172 or Falsification of Private Individual and use of falsified Documents, Article 178 or Using Fictitious Name and Concealing True Name and Article 315 or swindling and estafa in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
