At least 20 kilos of shabu worth P136 million were seized by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel during a buy-bust in Quezon City Wednesday.
The drugs, which were placed in Chinese tea bags, were recovered from Chinese citizens Yao Yuan and Piao Hong, and their Filipino cohort Israel Ambulo.
The suspects were arrested in a parking lot at the Quezon City Memorial Circle in Barangay Diliman around 1:52 pm, PDEA National Capital Region field office director Adrian Alvarino said in a text message.
Alvarion said the suspects negotiated with an agent posing as a drug buyer for the sale of two kilos of shabu in exchange for P2 million.
“We recovered 18 more kilos of shabu from their possession,” he said.
Alvarino said the Chinese-run Golden Triangle syndicate could be smuggling of the drugs into the country.
“Based on a profile of illegal drugs, this comes from the Golden Triangle, he told dzBB.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against the suspects. DMS
