Two fishermen flee after hitting barangay captain’s head with hammer

Authorities are looking for two fishermen after they hit a barangay captain using a hammer in Balabac  on Wednesday evening.

An initial report said Jestra Ladjabulan Nur, barangay captain of Mangsee was conducting patrol around 10 pm with his adviser and a village watchman when they passed by the house of the suspects who were allegedly conducting a pot session.

Barangay officials immediately entered the house and Nur tried to arrest one of the suspects but he was hammered in the head.

The suspects, identified as fishermen, managed to escape.

Recovered in the house were two sachets of suspected shabu, illegal drug paraphernalia and one hammer.

The barangay captain reported the incident to the Balabac Municipal Police Station and they are looking for the suspects. Ella Dionisio/DMS
