Two Indonesian ships arrive for goodwill visit in General Santos City

Indonesian ships Kri Sultan Hasanuddin-366 and Kri Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 arrived in General Santos City on Sunday, the Philippine Navy Eastern Mindanao Headquarters said Monday.
The officers and crew of the two vessels, headed by the two Commanding Officers, Lt Col Bina Irawan Marpaung of Sultan Hasanuddin and Lt Col Andri Kristianto of Sultan Iskandar Muda were received during a simple arrival ceremony rendered by Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao led by the Chief of Staff of the Command, Captain Aldrin Doctor with Berlian Napitupulu, Indonesian Consul General, Shirlyn Nograles, vice mayor of General Santos City, Senior Superintendent Romeo Ruel Berango, acting police city directorand the 74th Naval Group Reserve headed by Lt Col Alano S Abdulhalim .
In a press briefing, Napitupulu mentioned the importance of having the visit for deeper mutual understanding between the two navies and among other security personnel through active participation of the key personnel in the coming activities like the goodwill games and dinner reception.
He also emphasized the importance of discovering tourism and potential trade partnerships between the Philippines and Indonesia.
Part of the goodwill visit is the public viewing of the two vessels particularly among locals of General Santos City on October 31 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at Makar Wharf, General Santos City.
The vessels will depart on November 1, 2017 through a simple send-off ceremony prepared by the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao. DMS
