Two inmates who escaped from Basilan jail killed in hot pursuit police operation

Two inmates who were among eight prisoners who escaped from the Basilan provincial jail last week were killed during a hot pursuit operation, police said on Monday.
Col. Homer Dumalag, Isabela City police chief, said Battuh Kusain and Nurhassan Lahaman were killed in an operation at Barangay Cabunbata, Isabela City around 1:58 pm on Sunday.
Dumalag earlier said Kusain, charged for multiple murder, is involved in the July 31, 2018 bombing in Lamitan City where around 10 persons died.
Authorities recovered an M16 rifle, one cal. 45 and three fired cartridges.
Dumalag said Saripada, Asao, and Ahmad are still at large and subjects of a police manhunt.
Saripada and Ahman were also involved in the Lamitan City bombing while Asao is charged with illegal possession of explosives and illegal possession of firearms. Ella Dionisio/DMS
