November 25, 2017
Two Japanese companies in Laguna and their respective contractors have been ordered by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to give regular employment status to over 1,000 workers after they were found to be engaged in labor-only contracting activities.
DOLE Region IV-A Director Zenaida Angara-Campita said "its contractors do not have substantial capital and the employees use the principal’s equipment and tools in the performance of their outsourced services."
In the case of the second company, DOLE said it "ordered the cancellation of the Certificate of Registrations of seven of its contractors and removed from the rosters of legitimate contractors." DMS
