Two soldiers killed in clash with BIFF in Maguindanao

Two soldiers were killed while another one was wounded in a 45-minute clash with the members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Figther (BIFF) in Maguindanao on Sunday night.
Maj. Arvin Encinas, Western Mindanao Command spokesman, said troops of the 57th Infantry Battalion were fired upon by the bandits at the vicinity of Barangay Talibadok, Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao at 8:55pm.
"(The) troops were deployed to support the Interagency Task Force in the implementation of community quarantine in the area when they were fired upon by undetermined number of BIFF militants," he said.
Encinas said the casualties were evacuated to the nearest hospital.
"Troops continue to pursue the fleeing militants," he said.
Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command honors the heroism of the slain soldiers.
"We are deeply saddened by the report that two of our brave soldiers were killed in action while performing their duties for the good of humanity," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
