Two soldiers killed in Occidental Mindoro ambush

Two soldiers were killed and two others wounded after a vehicle carrrying military personnel was ambushed in Occidental Mindoro on Wednesday afternoon.
Lt. Col. Dennis Cana, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) spokesman, said the joint inspection and distribution of CAA (CAFGU Active Auxillary) subsistence allowance team onboard a black SUV Ford Everest was on their way to Naibuan patrol base, when they were ambushed by still unidentified perpetrators at the vicinity of Sitio Naitan, Brgy Batasan, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro around 4:30pm.
Cana said the cash for subsistence allowance of CAAs in all patrol bases in the area were carted away by the perpetrators.
The ambush resulted in the killing of a sergeant and a corporal and the wounding of Maj. Ephtaem Domingo and CAA Willy Gregorio.
The wounded were brought at the district hospital in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro for treatment.
Cana said the intelligence operatives are still securing the crime scene and tracking the perpetrators.
Following the incident, the military alerted all patrol bases in the area while the Philippine National Police (PNP) San Jose crime scene operatives are gathering evidence. Robina Asido/DMS
