Two wounded in grenade attack ahead of Duterte visit in Central Mindanao

ISULAN – At least two civilians were wounded in a grenade attack Sunday night ahead of the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in Central Mindanao Monday, police said.
Superintendent Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato provincial police spokesman, said a man lobbed two grenades while a family were having dinner shortly before 7 p.m. inside their house in the village of Bida, M’lang, North Cotabato.
Tayong said the attack left couple Nestor Lambid Nuñez, 58, and Jovy, Nuñez, 54 injured and wre rushed to M’lang District Hospital.
“We are investigating the motive behind the incident,” he said.
The explosions forced the military and police to tighten security ahead of Duterte’s visit Monday afternoon at the Sultan Kudarat Sports and Cultural Center in Barangay Kalawag II here to distribute land titles to 1,680 farmers.
Rodolfo Alburo, provincial agrarian form officer II of the Department of Agrarian Reform—Sultan Kudarat told Philippune Information Agency the land titles cover 4,266.2882 hectares in Barangay Laguilayan in Isulan mostly to corn, coffee and rubber farming.
The area is part of the 1.5 million hectares of public domain across the country reclassified as agricultural lands and declared as alienable and disposable for agricultural and resettlement purposes. DMS
