Typhoon “Rosita” makes landfall, now traversing Benguet: Pagasa

Typhoon "Rosita" slightly weakened as it made landfall at 7 am in Dinapue, Isabela on Tuesday and the state weather agency said it will pass through Benguet, La Union and Pangasinan provinces before leaving land in the afternoon.
As of 1 pm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa) said the typhoon is in the vicinity of Sablan, Benguet and heading towards La Union.
Storm surge of up to three meters is possible over the coastal areas of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan, added Pagasa.
Thousands have been evacuated by officials in the Cagayan Valley, Benguet and Ilocos region as a precaution since these areas were badly hit a strong typhoon a month ago. These areas are under tropical cyclone warning signal numbers three and two where stormy weather is expected, Pagasa said.
"Rosita" has winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 250 kilometers per hour. When it made landall, the typhoon had winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 230 kilometers per hour. DMS
