January 25, 2018
Uber System Inc. filed a petition before the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Thursday asking a fare adjustment due to higher fuel prices.
In a statement, USI wants to increase fare per kilometer for uberX to between P9 and P12 depending on the time of the day from P5.70 per kilometer.
The base fare of P40 and time charge of P2 will remain the same.
"We are doing this to ensure driver partners earn sustainably. We are committed to investing in the business in the Philippines so riders and drivers continue to get the service they are accustomed to,” USI said in its petition.
Earlier, Grab filed an application for fare increase before the LTFRB between P10 and P13 amid higher excise tax for petroleum products under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law. DMS
