Uber pays more than P480 million to LTFRB

Uber System Inc. paid more than P480 million in fines and financial assistance for the transport network vehicle services ( TNVS) to the Land Transportation and Regulatory Board on Tuesday to lift their one-month suspension.
LTFRB board member Aileen Lozada had said Uber have to pay a total of P474,294, 400. This broken down into a P190 million fine and P19,949,600 financial assistance for 36,367 peer operators multiplied by 14 days from August 16.
The LFTRB will be holding a press briefing later Tuesday to say if Uber can resume operations.
LTFRB suspended Uber Systens Inc for continuous accreditation and activation of drivers on their platform despite an order from the board to stop accepting or activating new drivers on August 14.
"It cost Uber close to half a billion pesos for defying government regulations, putting at risk tens of thousands of colorum Uber TNVS as well as the riding public. Now we need to fix the problem created by them", Lizada said. Alanna Ambi/DMS
