November 9, 2020
Tropical Depression ''Ulysses'' slightly gained strength as it moves northwest over the Philippine Sea until Tuesday morning where it is forecast to turn west and heads towards the Bicol-Quezon area, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.
''(Ulysses) is forecast to further intensify and is likely to reach tropical storm category within 24 hours. It may reach typhoon category on Wednesday prior to landfall,'' said Pagasa in its 11 am bulletin.
Pagasa said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No.1 may be raised over some places in Bicol or Eastern Visayas as early as Monday night or Tuesday morning ''in anticipation of the onset of strong breeze to near gale conditions associated with 'Ulysses'.
''Ulysses'' was located 635 km east northeast of Surigao City or 605 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar as of 10 am.
''Ulysses'', which has winds of up to 55 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 70 km/h, is moving northwest at 40 km/h. DMS
