UPDATE Eleazar now number two man in PNP

The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday ordered a new round of reorganization of PNP senior officers occupying key positions in the upper echelon.

According to Police Brig. General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, the reorganization came after Lt. General Guillermo Eleazar and Lt.General Cesar Hawthorne Binag were elevated to the second and third highest posts in the PNP Command Group as deputy chief for administration and deputy chief for operations, respectively.

This is after Cascolan vacated his post as second in command to become Chief PNP.

“As TDCA ( The Deputy Chief for Administration), Eleazar will continue to serve as concurrent commander of JTF COVID Shield, while Binag will lead the administrative support to COVID Operations Task Force (ASCOTF),” said Banac.

He said this will ensure continuity of the action plans of both task forces.

Major General Joselito Vera Cruz, was designated acting chief directorial staff vice Binag, the fourth highest post in the PNP Command Group.

He is formerly the chief of the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM).

Other new reassignments that took effect Thursday were:

Major General Gilberto Cruz – director, Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA)

Major General Emmanuel Luis Licup – Director for Comptrollership

Brig. General Alfred Corpus – acting Director for Operations

Brig. General Rolando Hinanay – acting Director for Personnel and Records Management

Major General Jose Chiquito Malayo – Director for Integrated Police Operations-Northern Luzon

Major General Marni Marcos Jr – reassigned to OCPNP

Brig. General Bartolome Bustamante – Regional Director, Police Regional Office 5

Brig. General Steve Ludan – director. Crime Laboratory

Banac said the movement of key personnel was triggered by the retirement of Police General Archie Gamboa last Wednesday and the retirement  of Brig. General Anthony Alcañeses. Ella Dionisio/DMS
