Vietnam ambassador pays courtesy call to Navy chief

Vietnamese Ambassador Hoang Huy Chung paid a courtesy call to Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy in Manila on Thursday.
Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, acting Philippine Navy public affairs chief said Chung and Bacordo discussed the future engagements between the PN and Vietnam People’s Armed Forces.
"Highlights of the discussion involved during the said call are the future engagements of the PN and the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces particularly the Vietnam People’s Navy which include the latter’s participation in the coming PN hosted Western Pacific Naval Symposium and other international naval engagements where both navies will also partake," she said.
"The ambassador also expressed the willingness of Vietnam to strengthen its coordination with the Philippines, particularly in the areas of maritime security concerns and to enhance both countries’ naval cooperation," Roxas said. Robina Asido/DMS
