Villar grabs lead in Pulse Asia senatorial survey

April 30, 2019

Senator Cynthia Villar grabbed the lead from fellow Senator Grace Poe in the April Pulse Asia survey released on Tuesday.

Villar tallied 51.7 percent while Poe, who since the start of these surveys last year, was second with 50.7 percent.

Former Senator Lito Lapid was third with 45.7 percent followed by Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano with 43.9 and former presidential aide Christopher ''Bong'' Go.

The survey was made in April 10-14 but with the elections nearly a month away, Pulse Asia president Ronald Holmes said it cannot concluded that this will be the outcome of the May polls.

''Not yet. This is still a month away,'' said Holmes in a message to the Daily Manila Shimbun.

''Shifting ranks among those from sixth to 17th place in our previous surveys,'' added Holmes.

At sixth was Senator Sonny Angara with 40.4 percent, followed by former Senator Bong Revilla, who was acquitted of plunder by the Sandiganbayan, with 38.1 percent.

Former Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa was eighth with 36.7 percent followed by Senator Nancy Binay at ninth with 36.2 percent.

At tenth was Senator Koko Pimentel with 31.8 percent and Ilocos Norte Gov Imee Marcos, 11th with 29.6 percent.

Tied for 12th is Senator Bam Aquino and former Senator Jinggoy Estrada with 28.8 percent. At 13th is Senator JV Ejercito with 28.1 percent.

Former Senator Mar Roxas, a Cabinet member during the Aquino administration, is statistically tied for 14th to 17th places with ex-senators Serge Osmena and Juan Ponce Enrile and former presidential adviser Francis Tolentino. DMS
