Wife of Abdullah Maute arrested in Cotabato

Government authorities have arrested the wife of one of the Maute brothers in a law enforcement operation in Cotabato City.

Senior Insp. Jemar Delos Santos, Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) spokesman identified the arrested suspect as Najiya Dilangalen Karon Maute, wife of Abdullah Maute who was one leaders of the ISIS inspired Maute terrorist group.

Abdullah Maute was declared dead by the military in September 4.

Delos Santos said the suspect was arrested at the vicinity of at Number 23, Brgy Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City around 2:30 pm.

He said the arrest is based on the implementation of arrest order number 2 for Violation of Article 134 (rebellion) issued by the Department of National Defense dated June 5, 2017.

Delos Santos said the arrested suspect was brought to Regional Criminal Investigation Unit of ARMM for documentation and proper disposition. Robina Asido/ DMS
