Woman lawyer shot dead in front of children in Tagbilaran City

Unidentified men shot a woman lawyer in front of her three children inside her car in Tagbiliran City on Wednesday, police said.

Mia Manuelita Mascarinas-Green, 49, was driving her Toyota Innova with her three children when two men on a motorcycle blocked the round. Two others on another motorcycle went to the driver’s side and shot her several times.

Mascarinas-Green was rushed to Holy Name Hospital where she died at 6:15 pm. Her children were unscathed.

Superintendent Nicomedes Olaivar, Tagbiliran police chief, said Green has been receiving death threats related to her job. Her cases were mostly abuses against women and children, adultery and civil cases, said Olaivar.

"She is a good lawyer and she was never related to anomalies like illegal drugs," Olaivar said. DMS
