Woman loses right arm in accident at MRT Station
November 14, 2017
A 24-year-old female passenger lost her right arm after she fell at the tracks of the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT) Ayala Station, the Department of Transportation (DoTr) said Tuesday.
The passenger, identified as Angeline Fernando, "felt dizzy after alighting from a north bound train at the north bound platform of Ayala Station," the statement said.
"She fell down at the tracks between the first car and the second car of the same moving train and hit her right hand which was cut," it added. The incident took place at 2:36.
Fernando, the department said, was rushed to the Makati Medical Center. "She is alive and the incident is under investigation by the Makati police."
Transport Undersecretary for Rail Cesar Chavez said train service was temporarily cut from North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard while the incident was being investigated.
Raffy Robles, MRT Ayala Station supervisor, said Fernando was not pushed because there were few commuters on the train.
"Fernando was conscious while she was being brought to the hospital," said Robles. Chavez said Fernando's hospitalization will be shouldered by MRT-3. DMS
