Zamboanga City cop shot dead

A police officer was shot dead by unidentified suspects in Zamboanga City on Saturday night.

Initial report said Police Senior Master Sergeant Leo San Juan was onboard his vehicle at a parking lot in Brgy Sinunuc, Zamboanga City when the suspects arrived and opened fire towards his vehicle.

Suspects fled after the incident onboard their motorcycle going towards West Coast direction of the city.

San Juan was assigned at Zamboanga City Police Station 1.

Victim sustained gunshot wounds in his left cheek and left part of his body.

He was immediately brought to the hospital but was pronounced dead by the attending physician while undergoing treatment.

Personnel from Zamboanga City Police Station 8 are now conducting pursuit operation for the arrest and identification of the suspects. Ella Dionisio/DMS
