Japanese Horseback Archery Shown in Russia for 1st Time
August 12, 2018
Moscow- Performances of Japan's traditional "yabusame" horseback archery were staged for the first time in Russia on Saturday as a bilateral cultural event.
Archers of the Ogasawara school gave the performances at a hippodrome in Moscow in front of an audience of more than 10,000.
Also shown were performances of Russia's traditional Djighitoffka trick horse riding.
"We are glad if yabusame helps increase exchanges between Japan and Russia," said Kiyotada Ogasawara, a member of the Ogasawara school head family.
In a summit in 2016, Japan and Russia designated 2018 as a year for bilateral exchanges. Jiji Press
