May 31, 2018
Tokyo- The Nihon University American football player, who has been suspended over a violent hit, said Wednesday that he takes the disciplinary measure seriously.
On Tuesday, the Phoenix defensive player and the entire team were suspended for the 2018 season over the personal foul that injured an opposing quarterback earlier this month.
Former Phoenix coach Masato Uchida and former assistant coach Tsutomu Inoue were expelled from the Kantoh Collegiate Football Association, a group of college football teams in Tokyo and neighboring prefectures, for ordering the hit.
The Phoenix player said in a statement issued through a lawyer that he is relieved to know that the injured Kwansei Gakuin University quarterback returned to competition Sunday.
The Phoenix player said he offers a deep apology again for the tremendous inconvenience caused to team members. Jiji Press
