14 hurt as elevator descends quickly in Makati building

Fourteen persons were brought to a hospital after an elevator in a Makati building hurtled downward from the 47th floor to the ground floor Thursday night, police said Friday.
In a police report, Glen Catan, an officer-in-charge for security at PBCom Tower. said 28 passengers were on the elevator car which came from the 52nd floor.
''At the 47th floor the elevator suddenly stopped and then abruptly started. After a while, it continuously went down at an abnormal speed to the ground floor,'' the police report said.
Police said 11 passengers are employees of Hauwei Co, with nine Chinese, two Malaysians and two Filipinos. DMS
