A 2.9 hectare housing project for Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel in Zamboanga was inaugurated last Thursday.
PCG Commandant Vice Admiral Joel Garcia led the inauguration of the "first ever" 2.9 housing project inside the Saint Michael Subdivision in Barangay Sinubung, Zamboanga City.
Under the project, 189 units of 100 square meter two-storey house will be built for PCG personnel and dependents.
Garcia said the units are expected to provide "secure and comfortable homes through decent and affordable housing."
PCG Southwestern Mindanao District outgoing commander, Commodore Joseph Coyme, was the prime mover of the project through an idea that was conceptualized by Garcia in 2013.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Garcia acknowledged the P18 million contribution of the National Housing Authority (NHA) through Al-Khawarizmi U Indanan for site development funds.
Garcia also recognized contributions from Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc. (AFPMBAI) through retired Brigadier General Cesar Idio for the comprehensive insurance for real estate and financing services.
