3 die as pump boat sinks off Romblon: police

Three passengers died after a pump boat sunk off the waters of Romblon on Friday afternoon. Based on an initial report, Supt. Imelda Tolentino, spokesperson of the MIMAROPA (Mindoro-Marinduque-Romblon-Palawan) regional police, said the Alad Express 2 sunk after being hit by strong waves and tornadoes off the waters near the Rowenas Beach Resort of Brgy. Agbudia, Romblon around 1 pm. She said the boat has a total of 50 passengers and five crew members, including its captain during the incident. Tolentino noted “the vessel is plying from Magdiwang to Romblon and vice versa.” She said personnel of Romblon Municipal Police Station, Philippine Coast Guard, and Maritime Group proceeded to the area for search and rescue operation, she said.
