5 killed as landslide hits Puerto Princesa

A landslide caused by four days of rain due to the southwest monsoon loosened a boulder, killing five in Puerto Princesa on Monday, police said Tuesday. Allan Vidor, 44, Marites Vidor, 40, and their two daughters, Ashley Vidor,3, Almira Vidor,1, died around 11 pm, said SPO2 Eusdaquio Ferrer of Puerto Princesa Palawan police station in a phone interview with the Daily Manila Shimbun. Aya Rabon, 4, was killed while her mother Abigail was rushed to the hospital. Ferrer said the two families were boarders in the house located at a coastal area of Brgy. Liwanag in Puerto Princesa. Edwin Rada, head of Puerto Princesa City Information office said the 25 families affected in the landslide were evacuated to the Liwanag barangay hall. Puerto Princesa City Mayor Luis Marcaida III asks the families residing in landslide prone areas to evacuate, he said. Weather forecasters say rain will continue. Alanna Ambi/DMS
