76% of Filipinos ”satisfied” with Duterte administration: SWS

March 12, 2019

Seventy-six of Filipinos are satisfied with how the Duterte administration is running the country, a survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said late Monday.

The survey, done on December 16-19, found 15 percent of adult Filipinos neither satisfied nor dissatisfied and nine percent dissatisfied with the Duterte administration, SWS said. SWS said 1,440 adults were interviewed for this survey.

SWS said the 76 percent satisfaction rating is 16 percentage points higher from the ''very good'' rating of 60 percent in September 2018.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said ''these figures are loud and clear repudiations of the critics and detractors of ( PRRD) President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who have described him as misogynistic, anti-poor and anti-human rights and who have taken turns in questioning the Build-Build-Build Infrastructure Program and lambasting the reconstruction of Marawi.''

''While the Administration never impelled the vocal minority from expressing their dissent, it is time they finally realize that a sizeable from silent majority has paid no attention to their endless tirades against PRRD and the Administration, as well as its policies, particularly with respect to the aforesaid matters,'' added Panelo.

SWS said the net satisfaction rating was ''excellent'' on promoting women's rights (+71) and building and maintenance of public works (+70).

The Duterte administration was ''very good' on helping the poor (+68), protecting human rights (+62), reconstructing Marawi City (+60), fighting terrorism (+55), transparency in government activities (+54) and deciding quickly (+50).

It was ''moderate'' in ensuring that no family will ever be hungry (+28) and fighting inflation (+14).

By income class, SWS said '' net satisfaction with the National Administration rose by two grades from good to excellent in class ABC, up by 25 points from +47 om September 2018 to +72 in December 2018.''

It stayed ''very good'' in Class D, or the masa, ''up by 15 points from +50 in September to +65 in December. It rose from'' good to excellent'' in Class E, from +49 in September to +70 in December. MS
