78 more police commandos promoted for ”heroism” in 2017 Marawi clash
February 15, 2019
The National Police Commission (Napolcom) passed a resolution promoting 78 Philippine National Police- Special Action Force members who fought during the five-month battle of Marawi in 2017.
In a phone interview with The Daily Manila Shimbun on Friday, Napolcom vice chairman Rogelio Casurao said the resolution was passed this month.
Casurao said this is the second batch of SAF troopers who were promoted.
He said the basis for promotion is their “act of gallantry” and “act of heroism” in liberating Marawi two years ago from the terrorist group Maute- ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).
“They helped in the liberation of Marawi from the Maute ISIS,” said Casurao.
Around 50 more SAF troopers are in the line to be promoted this month as their documents are almost done.
Casurao said 78 troopers underwent the same process as the first 800 troopers who were promoted last 2017. Ella Dionisio/DMS
