September 9, 2019
The printing plant of a tabloid was burned by four unidentified men in Paranaque City early Monday morning.
In a report from the Southern Police District, the fire started around 1:57 am after a single-storey industrial building occupied by Prage Management Corp., which is used to print Abante Una sa Balita.
An investigator said the building is made of mixed concrete materials with galvanized iron sheet roofing. The fire originated at the right portion of the production area, the investigator said.
According to the security guard, prior to the incident they were receiving printing materials when a group of unidentified armed men wearing helmets and face masks came and pointed a gun at them.
The armed men told them to lie on the floor.
The suspects even asked the lady guard to give them her gun but she didn't have a gun at that time.
She followed the order lie on the floor and she saw the unidentified men holding a gallon filled with gasoline pouring it into several files of newspapers inside the production area. These were set on fire with a long lighter.
The investigator said multiple fire origins were established in the scene.
A prima facie evidence of arson was established since incendiary devices and pieces of evidence such as two plastic gallons with alleged gasoline was found in the fire scene during the investigation.
The fire was put out around 2:10 am and damage to property was estimated at P50,000.
Witnesses and complainants were invited to the Bureau of Fire office to file a case of arson at the Paranaque City Prosecutors Office. Ella Dionisio/DMS
