Abe arrives in Manila for first leg of four-nation trip

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Manila for an official visit at 2: 40 pm Thursday, airport officials told Daily Manila Shimbun. He and his wife, Akie, alighted from a Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) plane at 2:57 pm
On hand to welcome Abe were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea Jr and Foreign Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr.
The Philippines is Abe’s first leg of his four-nation swing which will take him to Australia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
Abe and his delegation will proceed to Malacanang. A summit meeting between Abe and President Rodrigo Duterte is set on 3:45. Agreements on transportation, agriculture cooperation and financing are expected to be signed on 4:25 pm.
Abe is expected to leave for Davao City around 10 pm. DMS
