Abigail wins Battle of the Binays for Makati mayor

Re-electionist Abigail Binay got a second term as the mayor of Makati City after she won the race with a wide margin early Tuesday. 

The Makati City Board of Canvassers announced around 4:20 am that the younger Binay won with a total of 179,522 votes out of 320,827 overall votes cast. 

She defeated her brother, Junjun Binay, who  gained 98,g53 votes for second place. 

Also serving her second term as vice mayor is Monique Lagdameo who garnered 182,655 votes, turning back 1988 Olympian taekwondo athlete Monsour del Rosario   

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay with 65,229 votes lost to Romulo'' Kid'' Pena with 71,035 votes as representative of Makati's first district in Congress.  

Pena became acting Makati mayor in 2015 after Junjun Binay was dismissed from his post by the Ombusdman in connection with an allegedly overpriced Makati parking building. 

Pena lost to Abigail in the 2016 mayoral election.

Abigail's husband, Luis Campos, who had 90,736 votes won as second district representative over King Yabut.
