Abu Sayyaf killed in Tawi-Tawi

A member of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was killed in an encounter with government troops in Tawi-Tawi last Monday, a military spokesman said Wednesday.
Cpt. Felix Serapio, Philippine Marines spokesman, said troops of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi were conducting counter terrorist operation when they neutralized the Abu Sayyaf at the vicinity of Brgy Batu-Batu, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi.
"The successful operation thru the combined efforts of the police and military personnel neutralized Salip Ardi, an ASG member who has a standing warrant of arrest for multiple murder," he said.
"Recovered in the scene is a caliber .45. pistol, one magazine loaded with live ammunition and an improvised gun," he added.
Serapio said "the operation was in line with the AFP’s mandate of ending the terrorist group in the south." Robina Asido/DMS
